The utilization of Motion Detectors was an afterthought to this system, after some thought, why not. While most people around our marinas are trustworthy, that doesn’t mean that we should trust everyone. Unfortunately, theft and break-ins do happen, wouldn’t it be nice to know. Then again there have been occasions where repair men said that have worked on some of our friend’s boats, and billed them for the time, all while the repairman was never seen by anyone around. Whether it is to keep someone honest or to give you a heads up, being informed doesn’t have many, if any, drawbacks.

We utilize PIR (Passive InfraRed) sensors that look for heat. As a body or even an animal moves around, that motion is seen, informing our micro controller which in-turn tells you that there is motion.
